FEMPPA Participates in Meeting with IAOPA and AOPA in Palm Springs (1998)
FEMPPA reported on a private meeting held in Palm Springs, California, with leaders of IAOPA, AOPA-USA, and AOPA-Mexico during the 19th IAOPA World Assembly. The meeting addressed the state of general aviation in Mexico, the problems faced by U.S. pilots visiting the country, and a shared commitment among the organizations to promote friendlier and safer skies.
FEMPPA, AOPA-USA, AOPA-MEXICO, AND THE INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF AIRCRAFT OWNERS AND PILOT ASSOCIATIONS MEETING
On Wednesday, October 21, at the Wyndham Hotel in Palm Springs, California, a private meeting was held among the leaders of IAOPA, AOPA-USA, AOPA-Mexico, and FEMPPA.
At that meeting, to which Mexico’s Director of Civil Aeronautics, Juan Antonio Bargés, had been officially invited but was unable to attend for personal reasons, FEMPPA presented the current state of general aviation in Mexico.
Phil Boyer, President of IAOPA and AOPA-USA, in turn presented the problems faced by North American pilots who visit Mexico.
Jorge Cornish, President of FEMPPA, delivered copies of the poster that FEMPPA had prepared to be placed in Mexican airports. The organizations participating in the meeting committed to joining efforts to help ensure that Mexico has skies that are friendly and safe for everyone.
During the proceedings of the 19th IAOPA World Assembly, held in Palm Springs from October 19 to 22, Humberto Guglielmina, from Chihuahua, represented AOPA-Mexico. The World Assembly adopted various resolutions that will be published internationally, including some related to general aviation in Mexico.
